The Community Affairs Committee, consists of seven members of the Authority and is supported by officers from the Authority and the Constabulary, meets on a quarterly basis.

The Committee oversees the annual consultation process and more about this can be viewed on the community engagement page of this website.
At each meeting, the Committee reviews the progress of consultation and receives feedback from the Constabulary on the action it is taking as a result of that consultation. It is also responsible for shaping the future of Authority consultation .

To set annual objectives for the Authority's consultation programme.
To engage with and consult the communities of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight about policing and related issues, taking account of the advice of the Authority’s Officers and the views of the Chief Constable, and working in conjunction with partnership agencies.
To ensure that the opinions of the communities of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight arising from the Authority’s consultation activities are fed back into those communities to partners and to the Constabulary at the appropriate level.
To ensure that the priorities of the communities of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight are reflected in the future plans of the Authority and of the Constabulary.
To monitor and, as appropriate, challenge the Constabulary on its responses to issues arising from the Authority’s consultation activities.
To oversee the drafting of the Authority’s Policing Plan, Local Policing Summary and Annual Report.
To receive and scrutinise reports to the Committee on issues relating to, or arising from, consultation, including consultation undertaken by the Constabulary, and to report to the full Authority as appropriate.
To monitor the effectiveness of the Authority working in partnership, including its contribution to the Local Area Agreement Boards, Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships, and its formal links to Operational Command Unit Commanders.
To be the initial line of accountability in relation to the governance of the work of the Constabulary’s Safer Neighbourhood Teams.
