Shared Lives Scheme is Excellent Again!
03/03/2010 12:00:00
Hampshire County Council’s Shared Lives Scheme has just secured its third excellent rating in a row.The Hampshire Shared Lives Scheme recruits and supports Carers to provide caring homes for adults who need extra support and it is going from strength to strength with about 110 carers over Hampshire supporting about 200 people. Many of the people who benefit from Shared Lives have learning difficulties, others have physical disabilities, mental health problems or are older people unable to live independently.
The Shared Lives Carers provide long-stay, short-stay and day placements for people in their own homes. It is a person-centred service, with service users being very carefully matched with Shared Lives Carers.
The Care Quality Commission has rated the services as three star Excellent
The Care Quality Commission which inspects the quality of social care providers for the government and the general public has undertaken its Annual Service Review for the Scheme and has rated it as a three star excellent service. This follows excellent ratings in the Scheme’s Key Inspection in 2008 and in its Annual Service Review last year.
To achieve its excellent rating the Scheme had to complete an Annual Quality Assurance Assessment which is a comprehensive self- assessment of the quality of the work undertaken by the Scheme. Surveys were also sent out to people who use the service, Shared Lives Carers and others who have an interest in the service such as social care and health professionals.
