Disability registration
Hampshire County Council hold a register for people who have a disability. If you are registered then your details are stored on a confidential database and you are given a small yellow card as proof of your registration. It will not cost you any money to register.
The disabled persons' registration card is a quick and easy way of proving that the holder and has a significant disability and needs to use facilities provided for disabled people. Being registered as disabled is voluntary and is not a requirement for Adult Services eligibility, nor does registration mean that you will be eligible for Adult Services support.
How do I become registered?
- You will need to complete an application form relevant to your specific category: physical disability, learning disability, mental health diagnosis or sensory loss
- You could be registered under one or more of the categories
What are the benefits of being registered?
- Registration can be a pathway for easier access to certain benefits and concessions
- In certain instances you may be able to reclaim VAT on specific disability equipment
